  2. Following our 2-0 win yesterday afternoon against Pilkington, we confirmed Connor Pye as our player of the month for October. “It’s always good to get recognised for what you’ve been doing,” Pye speaks of the accolade, in a month he scored twice and was apart of three cleansheets. He then gave us his thoughts on yesterday’s game saying, “It was tough and they’re a good team they came out and tried to play football and they’ve got some really good individuals in their team but the early goal we got helped us a lot and we changed a bit in the second half, but we got another goal.” Pye added: “It’s about getting momentum because we in a bit of a tough period where the games are coming thick and fast but it’s just about keeping that momentum and there’s another tough game on Tuesday and that’s a big game.” Looking ahead to Tuesday’s game against FC St Helens, Pye said: “It’s going to be a really tough game there going to play football there a team that is organised and it’s the biggest game so far but if we win there hopefully, we can keep that momentum going into Christmas.” View the full article
  3. Bury ran out 2-0 winners against Pilkington this afternoon with goals from Rustam Stepans and Djavan Pedro extending their winning run to three games with another clean sheet as the Shakers climb to third. “I thought we did okay in spells but it was a tough game in the most parts,” First Team Analyst, Chris Watts reflected on the game. “It felt like one of them games where it was going to be our undoing if they got anything from this but it was good to get the second one and see it out but it was one of the most controlled games we’ve had at home but I thought we were a bit wasteful at time down at their end and on another day we get a few more and we didn’t really test the keeper but you can’t be too displeased.” DJ Pedro scored on his home debut, Watts added, “I’m really pleased for him as he’s worked really hard, battled really well, and won his headers. He was a nuisance all day, and I was pleased to see him get one, but I’m pleased to see him on the score sheet, and hopefully, we’ll see more of him.” Josh Gregory and Sam Coughlan both left the pitch through injury, Watts gave an update on their condition. “Josh is at the hospital and we think it’s just a dislocation we think he’s just landed awkwardly after the header but we think he’s just dislocated his shoulder so probably a while before we see him and for Sam, I think he ran into the same lad who got underneath Josh so we’re going to send him for an X-ray to see if there is a problem with his hip as that’s where there’s a lot of pain so there two we’re going to have to keep an eye on.” “Bobby [Carroll] has just been in with the physio now to see where he’s at and we’ve lost two central midfielders today so that’s something we’ve got to look at with the outcome of Josh and Sam but hopefully we’ll get Bobby back for Tuesday and we’ll see how his ankle reacts within the next 24 hours.” Chris finished the interview by giving his thoughts on the upcoming game against St. Helens, “It’ll be a really tough game. There’s a hardworking side, and he’s had that group together for quite a while now and are running a quest of a wave from getting promoted last year, but it’ll be another tough game we’ll look at, and we’ve got to perform on the day and take the three points.” View the full article
  4. With six games in hand we moved to nine points off the top of the league with a 2-0 win against Pilkington today. Rustam Stepans and DJ Pedro scored the goals that ensure Dave McNabb’s Barmy Army continue our unbeaten streak in the NWCFL Premier which now extends to 17 games. At the other end of the pitch The Shakers back line remained solid as rock, claiming their third clean sheet in a row, seventh of the season. We also marked Remembrance Day, taking a moment to remember all those brave men and women who have lost their lives in many conflicts and wars around the world and in service to our country at home. Theres not much time to revel in our win as the games will come thick and fast over the coming weeks. It’s a quick turnaround as our league campaign continues on Tuesday night when FC St Helens visit Gigg Lane for what is set to be a firecracker of a fixture under the floodlights at Gigg lane. 6. Winger Alex Cherera was happy with the controlled performance, in today’s 2-0 win against Pilkington. Cherera said: “It was a good game, and we did well you know we had possession, controlled the game and to be honest we deserved to win so I’m happy with the performance we put out there.” He than spoke on the focus on the league and the positives of the win and clean sheet streak post the FA Cup exit “Big positives but we need to win every game as we’re just focusing on the league now and soon we’ll be playing again so we’ve only got 2 days to focus and get back into shape so it should be alright you know and focus on the league.” Cherera than spoke about the weeklong gap between Colne and Pilkington and the benefit it had saying “I think it is nice to have a break you know with the Saturday/Sunday than Tuesday games it was a bit too much but soon will be back to training twice (in between games) and that’s just what we need for games on Saturday/Sunday.” Looking ahead to Tuesday’s game, Cherera added: “That’s a big game a massive game as St Helens are in good shape so we need to be up for it and we need to get the 3 points as it’s a big game next Tuesday.” View the full article

  10. Following discussions with AFC Liverpool ahead of our game next Saturday (9th November), the club can provide the following update: A request was made to us by AFC Liverpool on 22nd September to move this fixture to the Friday evening (8th) or to an early kick-off (12.30pm) on the originally scheduled date. The reasons given revolved around how a number of their club’s volunteers were due to steward Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against Aston Villa that same evening and consequently, AFC Liverpool wouldn’t have sufficient staff to operate the game at the Marine Travel Arena. An alternative solution offered was for the originally scheduled 3pm kick-off to be maintained, but only 150 supporters would be able to be in attendance, due to limited steward capacity. After speaking with our manager Dave McNabb, it was not feasible to facilitate either of the alternative times offered due to player work commitments and we replied confirming this. We were then approached again on the 19th October, and asked to reconsider. Our answer remained the same and this was passed back to AFC Liverpool promptly. We continued to prioritise our squad availability in this decision. We have been in communications with all stakeholders involved, including the North-West Counties League. The League advised both clubs to try and come to an agreement. If we couldn’t, then both clubs could be potentially charged with failing to fulfil a fixture. Despite coming up with several options during this process, we have been forced into choosing the option to play the match on Saturday 9th November, 1.00pm kick-off. This is against our better judgement. The option of playing on the originally scheduled at 3pm, has been removed by the League as they have safety concerns. We have released this statement to give supporters full context on the decision, which has been made largely with a view to supporting the manager and squad, under these disappointing circumstances. Further to this, we have notified the League of our intention to appeal this decision. If required, we will then appeal further to the FA. At this point, the club will comment no further. Details on the arrangements for the game will follow from the start of next week (4th November) and we will bring them to you when available. The Football Board View the full article
  11. We are delighted to welcome Wallwork Heat Treatment as a new sponsor for the 2024/25 season. The Bury-based business has a sponsor board, formerly held by JD Sports in the Cemetery End as well as two banners on the front of the stadium. The company was founded by Robert Wallwork in 1959, after years of gradual expansion the company moved to the present head office in Lord Street, Bury in 1979. The Group employs approximately 300 people offering a comprehensive heat treatment & hard coating service to the manufacturing industry. In recent years the group has invested extensively in new equipment and training in order to offer a high quality, competitive service to the aerospace, motorsport and medical industries. Bury FC, CEO Neil Sears said: “We are delighted to welcome on board Wallwork as a new sponsor for the 2024/25 season. Having been in Bury since 1979, the group itself employs over 300 people offering heat treatment to the manufacturing industry. This is another example of a local business getting involved with supporting getting Bury FC back to the EFL, we are looking forward to helping us achieve our goals.” Wallwork Group Director, Simeon Collins added: “I would like to say on behalf of Wallwork Heat Treatment, as a Bury business for the last 50 years with many Bury FC supporters, it’s a pleasure to be supporting the club on its new journey.” View the full article
  12. There are plenty of good reasons for every available Bury supporter to head to Gigg Lane for the match against Pilkington this weekend. The lead-up has been about as good as it gets: two away wins in five days and two clean sheets, followed by two training sessions in a rare week clear of matches. It’s likely that on-loan striker Djavan Pedro will make his first home appearance following his impressive debut at Colne. And then… you might just catch a glimpse of our old striking-hero Ryan Lowe – special guest in the hospitality venues. We might even get to sing his old Gigg Lane chant! Ryan Lowe…repeat and repeat! All our hopes for the trips to Colne and Charnock Richard were fulfilled, and the next aspiration is a third successive win with another clean sheet. Mitch Allen has been superb in goal, and thoroughly deserves the greeting he will get from the fans if we pull it off. We are 16 unbeaten in the league and look to start off the month of November with fireworks of our own. So…come on you (Shakers) fans, we will see you at Gigg Lane to be #PartofIt. Get all your pre-match information below. In Opposition – Pilkington Two wins in their last six games represents improvement for third-from-bottom Pilkington. Success against Colne and Charnock Richard and a draw with South Liverpool will have given morale a bit of a boost. The Greens are in their second season in the Premier Division after winning the Division One North title in 2023. Last season, we won 3-1 in the same fixture with late goals from Billy Reeves & Joe Hobson. Recap the highlights below. Check out Pilk’s history, from their breakdown available at the NWCFL website HERE. Ryan Beigan will be one to watch who has previously featured at Lower Breck, moving to Pilks in the summer and has eight goals so far this term. Next week Pilkington might fancy their chances a little more – they’re at home to our neighbours Prestwich Heys, who are having an even tougher time of it. But then a week later they face another daunting prospect…a visit to our other near neighbours and current league leaders Ramsbottom United. On the Day & In the Ground Our Matchday @ Gigg guide is available to read to find out everything you need to know going on in and around the ground. Match Tickets can be bought online HERE. Ryan Lowe is our special guest in Starkies & Eyelevel Sponsors Lounge. Our annual remembrance service will take place ahead of kick-off, click here for further information. 14. We’d like to provide a further update on our Legends Wall plans. We’re currently experiencing some technical issues with the imagery that we are planning to use on the legends wall, to get it up to the quality needed by the company printing these for us. Our Heritage Committee along with other volunteers from the club’s Media Team are working hard to get this processed as quickly as possible. As mentioned in the last update, we will open sales on each of the history panels once they have been designed. We’re also extending the sponsorship length, initially set to two years, this will now be for the rest of the 2024/25 season and the two following seasons – 2025/26 & 2026/27. Thanks for your continued support for this project. View the full article

  17. Each year, we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country, sovereign, families and loved ones in order that we may live our lives in freedom and safety. It is important for us all to reflect on the lives lost, the families and friends affected and those who were injured whilst serving their country. As a mark of respect, ahead of our home game next Saturday against Pilkington, we will take a moment to remember all those brave men and women who have lost their lives in many conflicts and wars around the world and in service to our country at home. We owe them so much in countless ways. Especially poignant this year are memories of those who served in the D-Day landings of 1944 and the 25th anniversary of the end of the war in Bosnia and the Balkans where the British and NATO armed forces served with distinction in the Peace Keeping Force. Not only do we remember the armed services, the Army, Navy and RAF, but also the emergency services, Police, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance Services and all those who work within the NHS and social care and who serve to keep us safe. We also welcome special guests His Worship, the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Khalid Hussain, Lady Mayoress, Mrs Carol Bernstein and the Rector of Bury Parish Church, Reverend Julian Heaton. We are proud to launch the opening of our Veterans Bar for this fixture where service veterans will be able to gather together on match days and drop in sessions supported by The Two Tubs Public House and the landlady Donna Haslam. This will deepen our connection with veterans in the area which is so important to us as a club in a town with strong military connections. Saturday will be free of charge for all veterans, entry will be via the main reception on production of ID. We also remember those within the Bury FC family who have passed away. We particularly remember those who have passed away since our last memorial game. All those we have lost are missed by their fellow supporters, family and friends. Whilst their may be an empty seat, an unworn scarf or a missing click of the turnstile, each Shaker has made their own mark on the club, leaving their unique legacy and we remember them all with our own special memories. We are a town with a proud history of association with the Lancashire Fusiliers and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and we continue the tradition of trooping the colour. We would ask supporters to be in their seats as early as possible for the remembrance service beginning ahead of kick-off. View the full article

  20. The trip to Colne follows hard on the heels of last Tuesday’s visit to Charnock Richard, and we’re hoping the outcome is similar. What a treat it was for the Shakers and our fans. We celebrated the return to League action with an away win under lights on a wet and skiddy pitch – and with a clean sheet. It was a good start for goalkeeper Russell Saunders – who was drafted in at the last minute as Mitch Allen and his partner welcomed their new arrival – Once again congrats to Mitch and Erikha on the birth of their child from everyone at the club. The pressures of recent weeks have left us with several leading players struggling against injury. But the big danger at Colne is that on paper it should be a pushover. We’re third in the league with games in hand, and Colne are rock bottom – beaten in their last five games and with only six points. So…come on you Shakers!! In Opposition – Colne It’s been a dire season so far for Colne. Formed in 1996, they celebrated their 20th anniversary by winning the NWCFL title with 100 points and more than 100 goals. In 2017, they finished their first season in the Northern Premier League West Division in a respectable fifth place, and in the following year reached the play-offs. That was as good as it got, however, and they were relegated in 2023. Back in the NWCFL Premier Division, they were beaten 3-1 by Bury in the second match of the season and lost 4-1 in the return fixture. They ended the season in 10th position – seven places below Bury. Tickets Entry is via a pre-purchased entry ticket only. Click here to purchase your ticket.
