Club to launch Legends Wall
Brand new for the 2024/25 season is our Legends Wall, on the walkway between the South Stand and Manchester Road End, but first, we need your help. We have 60 spaces to fill with posters of Bury Legends from years gone by. Recently we installed, two posters at the ground with the club crest and a ‘Welcome to Gigg Lane’ message. The club would like to open this up for fan suggestions as to who they would like to see on the wall. Once the players have been chosen their will be an opportunity to sponsor each of the posters by purchasing this via TicketCo. Fans have until 7pm on Sunday 21st July to suggest their favourite legends on the form below: Loading… Following the deadline, we will then open sales to sponsor a poster, with the hope of them being in place for the opening home game at Gigg Lane. Be #PartofIt, put your suggestions in above and let’s get our history displayed at Gigg Lane! View the full article

Casey Lynchey named as Community Development Officer
Bury Football Club is delighted to announce that from Monday 29th July, Casey Lynchey will take up the post of full time Community Development Officer. This role is a key element of the Club’s commitment to deliver its obligations to our town and the wider borough. “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to take up this full time position and it is with immense pride that I will represent the club in this vital role, ensuring that we are at the centre of the community. There is so much opportunity to use the power of football and our badge to develop the community and a sense of pride in our borough,” remarked Casey. Following a recruitment process completed at the end of May, five applicants were shortlisted for interview with Casey being a stand out candidate. An interview panel made up of Neil Sears (CEO of Bury FC), Darren Bernstein (Director of Football Supporters Society of Bury FC) and Tracey Flynn (Service Manager for Business & Growth, Bury Council) was convened to ensure that the Club’s key community partner was involved in the decision making progress. Councillor Charlotte Morris, cabinet member for culture, the economy and skills said: “Casey has already done tremendous work in expanding the club into the community – what she’s done for women’s football in Bury is inspirational – and this will be boosted hugely with her new appointment. We all want more people to take up sport, whether for fun or competition, and make full use of the new facilities and 3G pitch being created at Gigg Lane.” Casey will be known to many around the club, as in a voluntary capacity she has overseen the rebirth and growth of the Women’s section in the club, where there are now around 250 registered players and more recently has been integral to the development of Bury FC’s new youth teams. Furthermore, Casey has developed a men’s recreational programme and looked after numerous schools and mascots on a matchday down at Gigg Lane. To add to her impressive track record of developing football in the town, she has 20 years’ experience in the education sector, most recently as a teacher and leader and she is completing a Masters degree in Elite Business Leadership. In addition she was the winner of BAME Project ‘Bury Women in Fitness’ Award – 2024, and the Manchester FA’s ‘Spirit of Grassroots Football’ Award – 2022. Amongst Casey’s responsibility will be to liaise with a range of community organisations, attract funding for community projects, ensure that the usage of the 3G pitch is maximised and continue development of the women’s and youth side of the club. Disciplinary Hearing Result
We are pleased to report that as a result of the work undertaken before and after the play-off final against Wythenshawe Town, the club will face no further sanctions. The suspended sanction put in place last year still remains a concern for us, and it does not expire until the end of September. The club had been charged with failing to ensure spectators and/or its supporters (and anyone purporting to be its supporters or followers) conducted themselves in an orderly fashion under FA Rule E21 with four specific incidents of misconduct referenced, namely a pitch invasion, throwing plastic cups of liquid onto the pitch, use of pyrotechnics and fighting. The club provided evidence of the significant efforts made in advance of the game to mitigate any crowd problems, and the firm and decisive action taken subsequently. This included engagement with opponents, local police and relevant footballing authorities in advance of the game, and the investigations and sanctions imposed on the supporters whose behaviour brought the charges against the club. Ground regulations and sanctions are posted around the ground outside turnstiles and available online by clicking the linked text. The commission urged us to continue with these efforts into the new season and we will adopt a similar approach to the management of home and away games, accepting we can only advise other clubs as we are not the ultimate decision makers for their home fixtures. Shirt Sponsorship in Memory of Mandy Freeman
In May 2023, we sadly lost our very own Amanda ‘Mandy’ Freeman. A supporter of Bury for many years, she was always keen to support the club in as many ways as she could. Following her passing, her friends and the wider club volunteers came together to sponsor the number six home and away shirts in her name. This is being continued for the 2024/25 season in the means of a raffle. Volunteer Co-ordinator, Sam Harman said: “When Mandy passed away, her friends and fellow volunteers decided to ensure we would keep up with her shirt/player sponsorship that Mandy did for her and her dad. The plan was, to each year raffle off the signed shirts, so that her and Keith’s sponsorship would be renewed. “Both Mandy and Keith were avid Bury fans and it would be greatly appreciated if you could show your support with this.” Fans can purchase a ticket for £5, with the aim to raise the £160 required to be able to sponsor the shirt. The winner of the raffle will receive the number six shirts at the end of the season, signed by all players. Click here to purchase a raffle ticket. View the full article

Incoming: Jack Dunn
“Sign Trialist 11″………… Ok. We are delighted to announce the signing of winger Jack Dunn The 29-year-old joins the club after 18 months out of the game due to an ACL injury in November 2022 playing for Marine. Jack started his career at Liverpool progressing through to their U18’s, 21’s and 23’s. Whilst with the club he went on loan at Cheltenham, Burton Albion, Morecambe and Tranmere Rovers. The attacking Midfielder then moved permanently to Tranmere before moving into non-league football with Warrington Town which included a loan at Widnes. Mental Health First Aiders at Bury Football Club
Bury Football Club has been a central point for the local community for almost 140 years. After fighting through our own battles as a club, we have now been able to further invest in the wellness of our players, staff, supporters and the wider community. From our ever-growing fan-base to our popular recreational and youth teams, Bury FC is about the people and for the people and we now have a freshly formed, dedicated team of Mental Health First Aiders who are here to help signpost you to the support you may need. Leading this initiative is Tania Jackson, our club’s Safeguarding and Welfare Officer, she is joined by Mark Lomas, Jess Reed, Ben Travis, Samantha Radcliffe and Aaron Wilkinson. Together, they form the core of our Mental Health First Aiders, dedicated to offering assistance and support. This investment reflects our commitment to fostering an environment where mental health concerns are met with empathy and prompt support, aiming to combat stigma and raise awareness of available resources. It exemplifies Bury Football Club’s commitment to ensuring everyone in our community has access to a supportive network. By investing in this training, we prioritise individual well-being and align with broader initiatives promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. We believe in nurturing an environment where open conversations about mental health are encouraged and practical support is readily accessible. They are not therapists or psychiatrists, but they have undergone training so they can give you initial support and most importantly signpost you to the appropriate support services if required. We encourage anyone in need to reach out to a member of our Mental Health First Aider team without hesitation. For assistance or enquiries about available platforms, please email buryfcmhfa@gmail.com to connect with one of our designated Mental Health First Aiders, who will guide you appropriately. Together, let’s continue to cultivate a community where mental health is not only acknowledged but also given the utmost priority, support and understanding. View the full article

Initial NWCFL Premier Division Fixtures
We can now announce that we will open our 2024/25 North West Counties Premier Division campaign with a trip to the seaside. We travel to the Fylde Coast to take on Squires Gate at The Brian Addison Stadium on Saturday 27th July. We then follow up with a clash against Padiham FC on Tuesday 30th July at the Ruby Civil Arena. With on-going works to our 3G pitch at Gigg Lane, the club made request to the league to have our first two fixtures away from home. We will continue to work with the league and teams, on the appropriate scheduling of any home fixtures to suit the works and projected completion dates as this month progresses. The league has currently only provided teams with confirmation on the first two fixtures to allow for preparations to begin. The remaining fixtures are due to be released at a later date, once fixtures from higher divisions are confirmed in full. We will confirm full details on these when they are made available. The next fixture due after the opening league games is designated for the first stage of the Emirates FA Cup, with all Extra Preliminary Round ties to take place over the course of the weekend of the 3rd August. The draw for this round is expected shortly. Harry Bunner: 1936-2024
Bury Football Club sadly lost another long-serving player recently on 19th June when central-defender Harry Bunner passed away at the age of 87. Harry joined the Shakers from Bury Amateurs in April 1957 and went on to appear in 105 league games for the club over the next eight years. These appearances included seven games in Bury’s Division Three Championship season of 1960/61 before he finally moved on to Stockport County in August 1965. We send our deepest sympathies to Harry’s family, and especially his wife and their three children. The funeral is being held at St. Mary’s, Failsworth on 10th July 2024 at 11am.
