  1. Following a bye through the earlier rounds due to progression last season we finally enter this seasons FA Vase at the Second Round Proper. And what a way to enter with a 300 mile round trip up North to face Whickham FC. Coach tickets for this Saturday’s game can be purchased here. WARRINGTON RYLANDS FA VASE 2021 WINNERS pic.twitter.com/JJI4xZksdI — Warrington Rylands FC (@RylandsFC) May 22, 2021 Our Northern League based opponents currently sit 15th in their table after winning 4, drawing 1 and losing 5 of their opening fixtures. Dave McNabb, who is no stranger to FA Vase success after winning it at Wembley with Warrington Rylands back in 2021, won’t be taking the trip lightly as he knows how tough these trips to the North East can be. In his post match interview following this weekends fantastic win on the road at Kendal, Dave said the following about the upcoming tie. You can see the full interview on YouTube here. Speaking of the weekends match against Kendal, an Andy Scarisbrick brace and yet another Harry Wright clean sheet, sealed the win as we controlled the game for the majority of the ninety as we start to look like a real force to be reckoned with. Kendal heaped praise on our fans and club for our excellent behaviour in what turned out to be a great day all round. 5. Dave McNabb and his team will look to make it four wins on the bounce this weekend as we travel North into Cumbria to take on Kendal Town in a top-of-the-table clash. This will be our second meeting with The Mintcakes this season and The Shakers will be looking to avenge a 3-2 loss in the reverse fixture back in August, a game in which Andy Briggs bagged a brace. Briggs was back among the goals last weekend as were Connor Comber and Anton Smith as we put a good West Didsbury & Chorlton side to the sword in a match fraught with action including sin bins, red cards and penalties (both saved and scored) You can see the highlights of that game below. Following this week’s announcement of the points deduction, as well as the opening game of the season against Glossop is to be voided and replayed, it is now more important that ever that you get behind YOUR club. Be the twelfth man and roar your Shakers on. Images courtesy of Jake Horrocks In Opposition – Kendal Town The present Club was originally formed as Netherfield AFC in 1919 when employees at K Shoes Netherfield factory were encouraged to form a football team. They were provided with land near the factory at Parkside and began to compete in local leagues. In 1925 the team achieved its first notable success winning the Westmorland County Cup. The club then played in the local leagues like the North Lancashire and West Lancashire league before the outbreak of the Second World War. In 1945 the club joined the semi-professional ranks becoming a member of the Lancashire Combination League. Two Championship Titles came their way in 1949 and 1965. FA Cup success was quickly becoming a tradition having five appearances in eight years in the 1st Round of the FA Cup with the club’s best run in 1963/64 reaching the 2nd Round against Football League side Chesterfield. In 1968 the club accepted the challenge of becoming a founder member of the Northern Premier League. However, the 1970s were not kind to Netherfield as they languished around the bottom of the Northern Premier League for most of the decade. The Club moved in the North West Counties Division One for four seasons before returning to the Northern Premier League in 1987 for the next 10 years the club’s highest position was fifth in the 1993/94 season. The club changed its name to Netherfield Kendal in 1998 and changed its name to Kendal Town in 2000. In the 2004/05 season, the club lost in the NPL Division One play-off final against AFC Telford. The season after was one of the most successful in the club’s history beating Gresley Rovers in the playoff final and the first ever promotion in the club’s history to the NPL Premier. The club’s best two seasons in the NPL Premier where they secured two playoff places losing both semi-finals each time. In the 2012/13 season the club where relegated back to the NPL Division 1. For the next 10 seasons, the club’s average position was 16th. In that time the club could only manage its highest position of 10th in the 2013/14 season. The 2021/22 season was one of the worst in the club’s history. The club finished on 12 points and finished 19th and were relegated to the North West Counties Premier. 2022-23 saw the club return to the North West Counties league for the first time in over 30 years, the season was a season for the club to Stabilize finishing 12th, the highlight was taking over 100 fans to the Isle of Man and also reaching the Macron Cup semi-final. 7. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in our appeal to overturn the three point deduction, and £100 fine, for fielding an ineligible player at the start of the season. Glossop North End have also launched their own appeal and as a result we will replay the fixture at a future date to be confirmed, in addition to the three point deduction. The rules do not allow the three points we lose to be awarded to them, so this is their only opportunity to benefit from the situation. We do not intend to charge season ticket holders to attend this rearranged fixture, subject to league approval. As previously stated we are disappointed at the outcome, but keen to move on and continue our promotion push. #ShakersTogether | #BuryFC | #PartofIt View the full article

  12. Despite another great result on the road this weekend, it was not without problems. Particularly those of anti-social behaviour which the club take very seriously and which all of us need to tackle to make the environment on matchdays welcoming for all. Any observations of disorder of any kind are reported to the league and to the County FA. Such reports will inevitably bring charges against the club for which there is a risk of large financial penalties. Continued indiscretions also risk the club being penalised, the most severe being the playing of games behind closed doors. This would be catastrophic for the club. Whilst many fans see this as just a game of football and a release from the day-to-day stresses of life, the football authorities and the club will not tolerate such behaviour. We have put in place a disciplinary procedure and clear sanctions for any unacceptable behaviour. These are displayed at the turnstiles, alongside the ground regulations. The club will not fail to take action against individuals where necessary. All fans should remember that this is our club and we are judged on the behaviour of even the smallest minority of supporters. Should we wish to continue to grow and at some stage return professional football to the town, we can only do so by removing such behaviour from our matches. Please therefore do not turn a blind eye and bring any reports of disorder to the club’s attention. The best way to do this is by reporting any incidents on the day, at the game, to the stewards in attendance around the ground who can deal with any issues in line with ground regulations. If this is not possible, supporters are requested to contact the club direct via email by clicking below and enclosing any supporting information to assist the club in dealing with the matter. Email about an incident There are other avenues for supporters to contact managing authorities directly to report on behaviours we all want rid of within the game. Click on the below logos to contact either the Manchester FA, Kick-It Out, True Vision and HerGameToo. You can also download the Kick-It Out app that enables on-the-spot reporting of incidents (links below): Android Link / iOS Link Help our club be one of the best around, by enforcing a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour of any kind. We welcome all supporters coming together to make Bury games, whilst atmospheric and fun, also welcoming and respectful to all who attend. 15. What a way to follow up a bad result: two wins and two clean sheets, in-front of two bumper crowds at Gigg Lane in the past week, which put us clear at the top of the league as we head to another play-off chasing side this Saturday. The Step Places Stadium is the venue for a sell-out clash, as fifth placed West Didsbury & Chorlton welcome the top-of-the-table Shakers to South Manchester. West’s form of two wins in seven league games will no doubt be a concern to manager Chris Rowley, but if the reverse fixture from early September is anything to go by – we are in for some fireworks. Benito Lowe’s return from early season injury was timed perfectly, as he swiveled past his marker with added time almost up to place the ball into the top corner and send the majority of the 3,838 crowd home delighted following a pulsating 4-3 win. Recap the best bits, with our highlights below. Incoming: Dan Cockerline Just ahead of tonight's game, we are delighted to announce the signing of forward Dan Cockerline from Newcastle Town! He goes straight into tonight's squad….team news coming shortly!#BuryFC | #PartofIt pic.twitter.com/39ytlgVnhc — Bury Football Club (@buryfcofficial) October 24, 2023 A 4-0 drubbing of Wythenshawe Town last weekend, with a debut hat-trick from Joe Duckworth was followed up with a more workmanlike performance against a lowly-placed Squires Gate on Tuesday. The game saw Lowe grab his 11th of the season and become the difference between the two sides. He left the field with strapping on his thigh, and of equal concern to manager Dave McNabb, Andy Scarisbrick left the field hobbling in the second half following a nasty challenge. McNabb hope will pull up in time for the trip to West, otherwise their will no doubt be a scrap for the starting number nine shirt, with Dan Cockerline (right) joining Andy Briggs on the subs bench just before kick-off on Tuesday. Both will be vying to be on the teamsheet come Saturday at 3pm. With a current record of seven wins from the last 10 is impressive, the manager admitted to a questioning of the squad’s mentality at points on Tuesday night. He will be pleased no doubt that whilst struggling at stages against Gate, the side still came away with the win – the sign of a good side in development. The wins keep putting the pressure onto the chasing pack, who return to league action this weekend – with Wythenshawe taking on FC Isle of Man and Kendal Town traveling to nearby Ramsbottom United. Let’s see where the land lies at 5pm on Saturday but for now, all your pre-match information is available below. NOTE: If you do not have a ticket for Saturday, supporters are asked not to travel to the game. In Opposition – West Didsbury & Chorlton West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC was founded as Christ Church A.F.C. in 1908, over 100 years ago, by Mr. R F Hartley, a Sunday School Superintendent at the church on Princess Parkway, West Didsbury. Competing as a grassroots club in the South Manchester area for the majority of their existence, ‘West’ applied to enter the Manchester League structure in 2006 and after fitting floodlights at Brookburn Road (now called the Step Places Stadium) to meet FA requirements in 2011, were permitted into the NWCFL in 2012. West reached the Premier Division for the very first time in 2022, following the winning of the Division One South league. They finished a respectable 9th last season, with 64 points and amassing a competitive 81 goals in the process. Tickets – SOLD-OUT West Didsbury processed ticket sales online and these are now all sold-out. If you do not have a ticket, it is strongly recommended that you do not travel to the game. 17. Tom Moore has been confirmed as the new club captain of Bury Football Club. Manager Dave McNabb hosted a vote amongst the players and staff, to choose the new captain with Tom selected to lead the team in this new era. Moore joined from Bootle only a matter of weeks ago, but has impressed as a towering presence in defence, as well as showing skills with the ball at his feet. Being able to offer either cross-field diagonals or quick balls into our forwards with precision has formed an important part of the new manager’s tactical plans. Charlie Doyle will be vice-captain with Oliver Jepson as third choice. Senior players, Andy Scarisbrick and Chris Rowney will make up the leadership group of five. The manager gave buryfc.co.uk his thoughts on the decision: “Being a fan-owned club, we see the responsibility placed on the members to chose who they feel is right to lead and represent them. With this in mind, I felt it was right for the players to pick their own leader. A player who would represent them and the football club going forward. “I’m over the moon for Tom who has shown tremendous leadership qualities since coming into the club. He dedicates himself to being the best he can be with his tireless work ethic and commitment. I’m sure he will set a positive example to the whole group and lead Bury Football Club for many years to come. “A huge congratulations to Charlie and Oli also. Again, two very professional lads who always put the team before themselves. They will help support Tom in his new role and alongside Chris Rowney and Andy Scarisbrick the five of them will also act as a leadership group within the squad. “Congratulations lads, and good luck.” We also offer our congratulations to Tom and all of the leadership group. We will have reaction from the new club captain this evening after the game. Get on down to Gigg Lane tonight to Tom lead the side out for the first time, grab your ticket HERE. #ShakersTogether | #BuryFC | #PartofIt View the full article

  22. We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Harry Wright. The 24-year-old, came through the ranks at Ipswich Town before moving to Fleetwood Town, where he left in 2022. He’s also played for Cheadle Town earlier this month, making two appearances, one in a league fixture against AFC Liverpool and the other in the Macron Cup vs Sandbach United. Harry is the son of former professional goalkeeper Richard Wright. The manager gave buryfc.co.uk his thoughts on Harry coming into the club: “Harry is a fantastic young goalkeeper with a great pedigree and background. He has had a brilliant start to the season at Witton, as well as at Cheadle Town and has huge potential to keep getting better too.” Welcome to Bury, Harry! Get on down to Gigg Lane this weekend to see Bury in action, grab your ticket HERE. #ShakersTogether | #BuryFC | #PartofIt View the full article
  23. Last Saturday saw a frustrating league defeat away at Chadderton, Dave McNabb’s Shakers took the lead through Andy Scarisbrick just before half-time, and then Oli Jepson doubled inside six second-half minutes. Chadderton pulled it back to 2-1 just before the hour mark, before two late goals gave the side all three points. We now move on to Saturday afternoon, as we look to set get a league double over Wythenshawe Town, after a dramatic win earlier in the season. Relive the game by clicking on the video below: You can watch Dave McNabb’s post match interview following the Chadderton game below. In Opposition – Wythenshawe Town Early Days: The club was founded in 1946 as the North Withington Amateur Football Club and was the idea of some young men who attended St. Crispin’s Church on Hart Road in Fallowfield. The club first played in the South Manchester & Wythenshawe League (1946 – 1958) and were subsequently transferred to the Lancashire & Cheshire Amateur league (1958 – 1972). Manchester League & Timpson Road: It was in 1972 the club applied and were accepted into the Manchester League, when up until 1974 all games of football were played at Hough End Field, Princess Road, Withington. In June 1974, under the helm of Chairman Billy Moore, the club’s headquarters were moved from the Princess Hotel in Withington to the newly acquired ground at Timpson Road, Baguley, M23 9LL where three pre-fabricated houses were purchased and turned into a clubhouse with a bar, kitchen and changing facilities. After numerous discussions, it was decided to name the ground after the residing Chairman (Stan Hahn) and the Club Secretary (Eric Renard) out of respect, honouring them as founding members, hence the name Ericstan Park. And it was at this point, the club decided to design a new badge incorporating a cockerel and a fox; the cockerel related to founding member Stanley Hahn (the German for cockerel is Hähnchen) and the fox to founding member Eric Renard (the French for fox is Renard), to forever recognise the club’s founding members. Cheshire League & The Invincibles: In 2014 and under new Chairman Kenny Hope, the club transferred to the Cheshire League Division 2 and went on to become history-makers, making national headlines as they won every single league and Cup game, 39 games in total, earning the side the title, ‘The Invincibles.’ Back to back promotions on their debut in the Cheshire League, and with a working partnership in place with professional football club Fleetwood Town, the club set their sights firmly on bringing semi-professional football to the club for the first time in history. The North-West Counties Football League & Semi-Pro Football: That ambition came to realisation at the end of the 2017/18 season after two seasons in the Cheshire Premier League when the club secured promotion to Step 6 and the Hallmark Security North West Counties League South Division, heralding a new era at the club. There were further changes at the beginning of 2019 when Chris Eaton took over as Chairman with a promise to put the club on a sound business footing. Promotion was narrowly missed at the end of the season but with Manager James Kinsey and his coaching team in charge, the club looked forward to the new campaign with optimism. The optimism proved well-founded as the club showed its confidence in the players and management team was justified with some remarkable highlights and a run in the league that left them in third place and looking forward to a future in the next level. Their greatest run of success was in the FA Vase where a series of victories against Goole Town, Nostell Miners Welfare, Skelmersdale United, and Northwich Victoria saw them matched against competition favourites big-spending Consett Town. A draw at home saw Wythenshawe visit the North-East for the replay but the FA’s experimental rule-change for the competition saw the team short of six players while their opponents had a full squad to choose from. Even so it was a narrow one-nil defeat that saw their visions of Wembley come to an end. The highlight of the season was a remarkable two-one away victory over high flying National League North stars Curzon Ashton in the Frank Hannah Manchester Senior Cup and their last game before the season was ended by COVID-19 was in the semi-final of the Division One Cup against Sandbach United. The decision to declare the season null and void robbed the club of what looked to be a certain promotion. Seven out of Seven and then COVID: Season 2020-21 saw a remarkable start to the campaign with seven straight wins and 29 goals scored against just 3 in return. Once again, the season was ended by COVID, and it looked as if once again frustration was the order of the day. However, the club got the news it so richly deserved when the FA made the decision to base promotion on the records of the two curtailed seasons and Wythenshawe Town found themselves starting the new campaign in the Premier Division. There was progress off the field as well at the beginning of 2021, when Chairman Chris Eaton, with the unanimous backing of the members, turned the club into a limited company with a promise of great things to come. Success and Reward: The 2021-22 season proved to be an outstanding campaign with a run in the FA Vase and a close finish in the League. Victories against Litherland REMYCA, Bacup Borough, Seaham Red Star, Holker OB, Billingham Synthonia, red-hot favourites Consett AFC and Anstey Nomads saw them reach the dizzy heights of an FA Vase Quarter Final at Loughborough Students. However, it proved one hurdle too far and the visions of Wembley were dashed. After the first few weeks Town were never out of the top three places in the league and it went right up to the final day when they were pipped by just a single point. Wythenshawe Town’s achievements didn’t go unrecognised, and they received two great honours at the League Presentation Evening. Manager James Kinsey was rewarded for three years of hard work and dedication when he received the Manager of The Year Award for the Premier Division and the club’s attitude to discipline on the field saw them received the Fair Play Award. The Summer of 2023 saw Manager James Kinsey depart for Stalybridge Celtic and a new regime at Ericstan Park was announced with the appointment of Rory Fallon and his Management Team. Duckworth in action for Witton earlier this season – photo: Karl Brooks The manager gave buryfc.co.uk his thoughts on Joe joining up this week: “Joe’s a player I’ve admired for a long time. He’s quick and direct and gives us a different option across the top line. “We hope this is another player who excites the supporters, and that those fans will get behind him, and all the team, in pursuit of the goals required to propel is forward.” Joe also reacted to his move to up Bury from Cheshire: “I am over the moon to have signed for Bury, ever since speaking to the manager it became an opportunity I could not turn down for several reasons. “His ambition is one that matches mine and I cannot wait to be playing in front of the fantastic fans, who support the team in numbers week-in, week-out. Time to get together and achieve promotion.” Get on down to Gigg Lane this weekend to see Joe in action, grab your ticket HERE. #ShakersTogether | #BuryFC | #PartofIt View the full article
